Manifest Your

Perfect Weight

Welcome to a Transformative Journey with Kat Ortiz, MPH, RDN, CYT

Hi, I’m Kat

Welcome!

As a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and certified yoga teacher (CYT) with a masters in public health nutrition (MPH) from Tulane University School of Public Health New Orleans, I bring over a decade of experience in providing evidence-based nutrition education. My journey includes completing a dietetic internship at Loyola University Chicago in 2014 and undergraduate studies at the University of California Davis in 2010.

In my first few years as a dietitian, I primarily worked with chronically ill patients however my passion has always been weight management.  Over the last decade, I have delved deeply into learning about body image, yoga, nervous system regulation and emotional wellbeing which led me to discover my unique gift for helping women achieve their weight loss goals. My mission is to empower you so that your outer self aligns harmoniously with your inner self 🤍.

What sets this course apart

In "Manifest Your Perfect Weight," I go beyond just asking you to close your eyes and envision your goals. While that's part of the process, I also provide you with practical, evidence-based strategies that you can implement for true, lasting weight loss.

What’s inside

Module 1 /

CREATING A CALORIE DEFICIT

In this program we will not focus on “healthy” foods vs “unhealthy” foods but rather on the calorie density of the food. We will discuss how to create a calorie deficit in a sustainable way so that you can lose weight and keep it off. It is often the case that through years of dieting you may be so removed from what "normal" appetite is and what quantities are appropriate for YOU and so my aim is to help you feel better about the way you eat and also about the amounts you eat.

  • Habits and goal setting

  • Meal and snack ideas

  • Daily practices

Module 2 /

CALMING YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM

Feeling unsafe is often at the root of overeating, disordered eating and eating disorders. A dysregulated nervous system leads to obsessive self criticism, pervasive shame and poor self regulation. Therefore,  in order to solve the issue of overweight and or disordered eating we must first start with cooling the nervous system in order to restore a sense of security. This will facilitate your ability to self regulate i.e. making better food choices in general or choosing better coping mechanisms such as going on a walk instead of eating when you're feeling anxious or sad.

  • How do you know if your nervous system is dysregulated?

  • How to regulate your nervous system

  • Calming practices

Module 3/

CULTIVATING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

As you embark on this journey of weight loss it is important to recognize that our diet (eating patterns) and how much movement we get are not the only components of a sustainable weight loss program. Our emotions and emotional wellbeing play a significant role as well.

  • Emotions: shame, fear, guilt, resentment

  • Diet culture

  • Shadow and shadow integration

  • Recognizing and navigating triggers

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • A Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is an expert in diet and nutrition. A RD is a health professional who has earned either a bachelor and or master's degree in nutrition followed by dietetic internship (DI) where the intern is expected to obtain at least 1200 hours of supervised practice in the field of clinical nutrition, community and food service. After successful completion of the DI the intern must pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to prove competency in the field of human nutrition and be able to use the credentials RD and RDN in order to practice medical nutrition therapy legally in the United States.

  • A dietitian is not the same as a nutritionist. A dietitian can be referred to as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist however a nutritionist cannot be called a dietitian.

  • The program was created for women ages 18 to 57 although most women will benefit from the course. The program is not for women with an active eating disorder. If you suspect you have an eating disorder (anorexia, binge eating disorder, bulimia) please feel free to reach out for a free 15 minute consultation. If you are unsure if the program is appropriate for you due to other medical conditions email me at katherine@seekwellnessrd.com to get more information before enrolling.

  • Absolutely! Although the weight loss course is very comprehensive, having a person by your side each step of the way can help you stay on track, identify any blind spots, and help you work through difficult situations that may arise.

  • The course is self paced and because of that results may vary. However, if you are achieving weight loss it's because you are indeed in a calorie deficit. You may see weight loss after just one week. It is important to keep in mind that sustainable weight loss is weight loss that you have achieved by implementing changes that you can consistently do for the foreseeable future, therefore, taking things at your own pace is important. Working towards progress and not perfection. You will know you are making progress when you are losing weight, feeling less anxious around food and or feeling relaxed in your nervous system i.e not in "flight or fight" mode.

  • Again, the course is self paced, so you may take as much time as you need in each section. Sustainable weight loss is achieved by creating a calorie deficit, calming the nervous system and cultivating a neutral and or good relationship with food.

  • Yes! Although weight loss is my chosen "niche" I have been a dietitian for over 9 year and have worked with clients of all backgrounds. Through the years, I have helped clients manage their diabetes, chronic kidney disease and gastrointestinal issues to name a few. If you'd like to explore if we would be a good fit, book a free 15 minute consultation with me here.

  • Yes. As an athlete myself, I love helping clients meet and develop their fitness goals. I can help you develop a nutrition plan to meet your specific needs so that you can perform optimally. Proper nutrition before, during and after fitness competitions or events can help you crush any fitness goal you may be pursuing. Hello new PR ;).
